On Wednesdays We Journal // 05 – Healing

HEALING … *very Lisa Rinna voice* you better believe I’m gonna talk about it 🥤(or at least journal about it)

Some quick thoughts on healing. It’s usually not as simple as shedding a few tears, saying an affirmation, doing some yoga and boom – you’re at the other end of the rainbow. It can be difficult. And it’s important to remember that what works for others may not work for you. Healing is a highly individualized journey and you have to find your shtick. I absolutely think movement of some sort is paramount. A lot of people recommend yoga and I love that journey for them. I personally prefer a walk, bike ride, or some kind of really strenuous cardio. I actually really miss OrangeTheory Fitness and taking my issues out on the rower…

Feel free to use these journal prompts to help you sort through your feelings surrounding healing. As always, seek help from a professional when you need it.

1️⃣ What are you feeling right now? // When I’m overwhelmed I make a bulleted list. Sometimes I expand, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I come back to it, sometimes I don’t. If you are more visual/artsy/creative with your journaling, maybe a mind map/word cloud. 

2️⃣ What does healing look like for you? // This varies depending on the situation.  Recently, it was TEARS and lots of them. Sometimes it’s the beach, sometimes it’s journaling.  Sometime’s it’s taking the same Kendall Toole 15 minute metal class over and over and coming out of your skin every single time “Duality” by Slipknot comes on. Just depends.

3️⃣ What are your top 3 go-to things? What helps you move through the process? // For me: music, movement, and writing.  This is my trifecta – all three are crucial. What’s yours?

✨ grab your journal of choice – when I’m overwhelmed and know I’m going to use a bulleted list I journal on my laptop version of the Day One App.

✨ set the vibe – pick some ambience music like lofi, cafe jazz, etc.

✨ date the page. brain dump and/or pick a prompt
