On Wednesdays We Journal // 13 – Rest
Journal Prompt: What can rest look like for you this week? Livelihood/making money aside, how can you fit rest into your day?
For me it looks like:
- Reading instead of endlessly scrolling TikTok.
- No shade to TikTok; I’m obsessed with #CleanTok! But I feel infinitely more joy when I make time to read. I have so many books and reading is my favorite form of escape. Plus, I feel better knowing I’m keeping the promise to myself to read more books.
- Currently reading A Game of Thrones and it’s so good!
- Creating instead of endlessly consuming.
- Again – this goes back to endlessly scrolling. I want less, MUCH LESS endless scrolling. Last weekend I made some scrapbook pages that have been on my list for a long time. I LOVE how they turned out and can’t wait to print them and put them in my album. They’re 100% digital and I allowed myself to just be a beginner and get immersed in the process. It was amazing.
- Closing my eyes for at least 5 minutes.
- You can call this meditation if you want. I feel like meditation has an intentionality to it that simply closing my eyes does not. Sometimes I just need to zone out for a few minutes.
- Quiet coffee time.
- Most mornings I don’t sit and truly enjoy my coffee…I just…make it and go straight into the day guns blazing. Today, however, I actually sat down and enjoyed my coffee. No music or audiobook playing. No multi-tasking. Just me, letting my imagination roam free in the quiet. 12/10 highly recommend.
I will say – we live in a society. A capitalist society. I get it. Resting is an intentional act – try to find ways you can fit it into your life. It’s a game changer. If you need more on this topic, make sure you visit @TheNapMinistry on Instagram.
