PaperPerson August 2021: “This Week Kit”
The Kit
Before we get to the calendars…If you’re not familiar with the PaperPerson August 2021 “This Week Kit” you can check it out here. It’s an excellent minimal kit which I really enjoy right now because we’re heading into the holiday season. As much as I love the holiday season, I find that trying to document everything with all the colors and themes and moments can be…overwhelming. So I welcome the minimalism right now! Not to mention the subtle ‘Sex and the City’ post-it breakup note reference…
Ok but the calendars!
The calendars speak directly to my crafty heart. I don’t know why but I am obsessed with anything date related. When I saw the calendars I knew this was about to be a good time. And it totally was. The calendars are perfect for scrapbooking – minimal, black and white, with space for journaling. Plus, Canva recently rolled out a new feature where you can import PDFs which is a total game changer. The Canva iPhone app made documenting the month super easy. I find the Canva iPhone app easier to use when inserting photos from your camera roll. You don’t have to upload or drag and drop anything. You get a special little tab for your camera roll – just click and insert.
I LOVE the way this turned out and am considering using this format to document the months moving forward. I deal with decision fatigue so I get easily overwhelmed when faced with too many options. For this project, I snapped photos in square mode and moved on with life. I then used the Canva iPhone app to add the photos and kept it moving. The fine tuning/resizing was done on my laptop; so simple. And I LOVE seeing the month at a glance via pictures. Also, it’s all just random shit – bits and pieces of my life. No theme, color coordinating, or pressure for perfect moments.
I…love digital scrapbooking?
I think the most shocking aspect of this project was how much I enjoyed the digital format. I had been feeling such a creative block when it came to digital projects. Digital scrapbooking is new to me and there is definitely a learning curve but I LOVE how this turned out. I didn’t have to print a bunch of tiny pics, cut them out, glue them down, etc. Canva saved me so much time. And with all the time I saved, I started reading the Game of Thrones books 🤪. It’s giving “I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico” except “I just saved a bunch of time (and money on scrapbooking supplies) by switching to Canva.” 😂
